Comparison of volumetric urine collection versus single-sample urine collection in horses consuming diets varying in cation-anion balance
Brief content of the article
The authors studied of dietary cation-anion balance (DCAB) on the the daily variation in urinary clearance and fractional excretion of minerals and electrolytes. Additionally, the variation within and between horses and the method of urine collection (urinary catheter versus volumetric collection). DCAB influenced the urinary excretion of minerals (Ca, P, Mg) and electrolytes (Na, K, Cl).
