Cavalor Electrolyte Balance

CAVALOR ELECTROLYTE BALANCE® - Premium Line
When a horse sweats.....

Indication for use
When horses sweat, they may lose a lot of electrolytes and minerals which are necessary for the proper functioning of the body. As sweat in the horse is hypertonic, depletion of as well electrolytes as water are major causes of fatigue in endurance events. As a consequence of electrolyte depletion the horse may show a decreased condition and loss of performance. Recovery of the natural mineral/electrolyte/vitamin balance takes time, and if the deficiency of electrolytes due to severe sweating is considerable, the loss must be compensated. When using Cavalor Electrolyte Balance prior to and/or after a situation involving loss of electrolytes and minerals through sweating (heat, transport, exertion) the horse will remain fit for a longer period, it will recuperate faster and more easily withstand longer periods of intensive training, competition and transport.

FAQ

Is there a difference between a liquid electrolyte supplement and a powder electrolyte supplement?
No, but conditionally it may be more practical to choose a liquid electrolyte over a powder form (client preference).

Why should I choose a formulated electrolyte mixture over a regular salt block ?
A balanced electrolyte mixture contains an array of electrolytes and nutrients that compensate electrolyte loss during heavy exercise. A regular salt block replaces sodium and chloride losses only. (link electrolyten)

Should I use Electrolytes before or after exercise?
In contrast to many nutrients, there are no body stores of water and electrolytes other than those carried in the gastrointestinal tract. Any excess absorbed is excreted in the urine. You can't give electrolytes before the competiton. You have to give electrolytes after horses made some efforts. However, deficiencies can be prevented by replacing them as they are lost (during and after exercise). Thus there is no use supplementing electrolytes prior to competition. Only giving electrolytes a few hours before competions, may be beneficial.
