The World Championship Juniors and Young Riders Endurance kicks off today in Abu Dhabi. The four participating Dutch Young Riders are preparing for today's competition that will continue in the desert during a 120 trial.
The Dutch team consists of 4 combinations: 18 year old Marijke Visser with Eomer, 19 year old Joyce van den Berg with Bas de Cardonne, Fenne Koppenol with Valesco and Yara de Boer with Sumaya G. For Fenne and Yara it will be their last year as a Young Rider as they reached the age of 21.
The horses arrived in good condition after their long flight. Wednesday morning they rode for the first time in the desert between camels, and the horses felt great. On Wednesday evening there was a big opening ceremony in the magnificent International Endurance Village in Al Watbha.
Riders are competing as we write this article so we keep our fingers crossed and wish them all the best!!!
