Effect of tapered normal and interval training on performance of standardbred pacers

Brief content of the article
The authors studied if reducing training load before a race enhances performance of horses like human athletes. It appeared that the mean speed and peak of the tapered group was faster. However, a considerable amount of these horses got injured. An earlier study with standardbreds revealed no effect of tapering.
