Changes in physiological parameters in overtrained Standardbred racehorses
Brief content of the article
The authors studied the response of various physiological parameters associated with overtraining. A 34 week longitudinal study was conducted to investigate the effects of an acute training overload. The study was conducted with 10 standardbred racehorses. Several parameters were decreased after a heavy training period (bodyweight, cortisol conc. packed cell volume).
