Gück et al. Studied the effect of high dietary intake of vitamin A on the retinoid and a-tocopherol status in ponies and the transport of these vitamins in lipoproteins. Ponies were fed 75 and 750 IU / kg BW/day. The vitamin E intake was 2 mg/kg BW. It was concluded that retinyl esters are an excelent indicator for the vitamin E status of ponies. The high vitamin A diet did not influence serum vitamin vitamin E status and lipid parameters in ponies but increased VLDL and LDL.
