  • Koos de Ronde Revs Up for Indoor Driving at Olympia

    International combined driving champion Koos de Ronde of the Netherlands is competing this week at Olympia, The London International Horse Show. He also competed in last year’s trial Indoor Carriage Driving competition at the same venue. This year the competition is an FEI World Cup qualifier, giving it even more importance. The top six qualifiers will go to the finals in Bordeaux, France, in February. “My horses are very fit for Olympia, thanks to Cavalor products,” said de Ronde, who added that he brought his best team to London.

  • Olivier Philippaerts: Youngest Rider Ever to Win Spruce Meadows CN International

    Cavalor sponsored show jumper Olivier Philippaerts of Belgium became the youngest rider ever to win the CN International Grand Prix at the 2012 Spruce Meadows Masters in Canada on Sept. 9. Olivier, who is 19 years old, garnered $335,000 in prize money.

    The final equestrian events of the London Olympics concluded on Thursday with dynamic dressage musical freestyle rides before an awed crowd of 23,000 in the packed stadium at Greenwich Park. The individual freestyle gold medal went to Charlotte Dujardin of Great Britain on Valegro, with 90 percent. Her teammate Laura Bechtolsheimer took the bronze on Mistral Hojris (84.34) and Adelinde Cornelissen of the Netherlands earned the silver with Parzival (88.25).

    Topsport at Greenwhich !
    Olympic show jumping ended Wednesday at Greenwich Park. Steve Guerdat of Switzerland won the individual gold medal aboard Nino des Buissonners, followed by Gerco Schroder of the Netherlands, who took the silver on his aptly named horse, London, and Cian O’Connor of Ireland rode Blue Loyd 12 to the bronze. O’Connor and Schroder had to take part in a jump-off for second and third places. O’Connor went all out, clocking a faster time than Schroder in the jump-off, but he had one fence down.

    The home team ended the first part of the team competition Friday in the gold medal position, and one of its riders set a new Olympic grand prix record. Great Britain topped the team standings with a score of 79.407. Germany was second (78.845) and the Netherlands ranked third (76.809). British team member Charlotte Dujardin had a record-setting ride on Valegro (83.784%).

    For the second time this season, four-in-hand driver Koos de Ronde has won a major international competition. At the end of April, the rider from Zwartewaal came first in the Horst competition, and last weekend he won again, this time in Lähden, Germany. The American driver Chester Weber finished second, followed by De Ronde’s compatriot Theo Timmerman.

    Pan American Team Gold Medalist Michael Pollard from Dalton, Georgia won the Southern Pines Advanced-A Horse Trials in North Carolina this weekend riding his own and Mr. John Bryant's 11 year old Irish Sport Horse Gelding Jude's Law with a score of 31.7. It was their first win of the season and a notable performance against a star studded cast of U.S. team riders and their four star horses in a field of thirty starters.

    The 12th and last World Cup in Göteborg was the last chance to collect the necessary points for the final at 's Hertogenbosch. Ludo Philippaerts understood that.     Wellington, Florida – Looking forward to the 2012 competition season, reigning Olympic champion Eric Lamaze has added several new horses to his show jumping stable following the tragic loss of his 2008 Olympic gold and team silver medal partner, Hickstead, in November. Lamaze, 43, of Schomberg, ON, has acquired seven new horses. Five were registered as Canadian-owned by December 31, 2011, as per International Equestrian Federation (FEI) requirements, in order to be eligible for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

During the World Cup final in Bordeaux he became 3rd after the Australian Boyd, who has entered the history books by winning the FEI World Cup Driving Final for the 4th time and compatriot Chardon.     Over the last years the board and the organization of Zwolle International spared no effort to make this show thé early event of the year. This year the international event could not continue at ‘De Ijsselhallen’. So the organization committee of ICNN (Internationaal Concours Noord Nederland) searched a new alternative and came up with an even better solution: ‘Fries Congrescentrum’ at Drachten. ICNN Drachten takes place from 2nd till 15th of January. This completion with international appearance offers both Jumping and Dressage for Pony, Juniors, Young Riders and Seniors.
